Last week at the Noon Mass, we celebrated the Sacrament of Confirmation.
Bishop Lennon was the main celebrant. Much preparation went into a liturgy that
was really prayerful and inspiring. Thank you to Ken Marquard and Mary Madden
-Oldja for the months of preparation they had with the Confirmandi that led up to
the actual celebration. Thank you to Art Bandza, Lynn Zullo, Del Holdash and the
whole choir for your extra practice time and your ministry of leading us in joyful
hymns of praise. Thank you to our Sacristan, Pat Gosky, for coordinating the
details of the Communion Rite with the Eucharistic Ministers. Thank you to our
altar servers: Christian and Lauren Hayes, Jessica Srail, Nick DiMaria, and Jack
Bryner. Bishop Lennon’s Master of Ceremonies was very impressed with our
Thank you to those who were Confirmed. Know that I pray for you that the gift
of the Holy Spirit will continue to be a source of guidance and wisdom now and
into your future. Please be open to every grace and blessing and opportunity to
grow in faith that the Spirit of God will present to you throughout your lives.
Thank you to your parents and to the sponsor you chose. Their example and
witness of faith-filled living is even more important to be shared and to shine forth.
Our kick-off event for the year-long celebration of our Fiftieth Anniversary as a
parish will begin on May 17, 2014, the Feast Day of St. Brendan. On that
Saturday evening we will celebrate the 5:00 P.M. Mass and afterward the
Fr. Kenny Center will be open for the Red & White Gala, our dinner/raffle.
Next weekend in the Gathering Area of the Church we will have parishioners’
raffle tickets available. Please pick them up to save us the expense of mailing
them. All proceeds will further the mission and ministry of our parish school. We
ask that you sell the raffle tickets as a way to show our parish support for our
children who participate in Catholic education provided by the administration,
faculty, and staff of St. Brendan School.
Since it is our Fiftieth Year and we have given this event a new name (Red &
White Gala) we would also like to honor a special individual during the evening.
This year we will honor Fr. Connie Murray in special gratitude for the work and
ministry that he has offered to the parish and the school for so many years.
Beginning this week dinner tickets will be available in the Parish Office, School
Office or order by calling Maureen Carr 440-734-9581. Seating is limited, so order
tickets early.
This week is Ash Wednesday. Mass will be celebrated at 8:30 A.M. and 7:30 P.M.
At 2:00 P.M. there will be the Liturgy of the Word with the Distribution of Ashes.
Additional Parish Lenten Booklets are available on the back table in the Gathering
Area of the church. I pray that as we enter into this time of retreat as a Church, we
will encounter the Lord in the many mysteries we celebrate.
